Adam French has been design thinking - integrating engineering with business and human values - since before he and the founding members of Stanford’s d.school got together and gave it a name. Introducing new bicycles to Kenya, engineering vapor-compression-distillation systems with the team at DEKA, or using design as a strategic tool at IDEO; as far as he’s concerned, design is about generating new ideas, making discoveries, and making them real.

Jon Glassman has seen more sides of Magnet that anyone else so far. He’s been onboard since day one. One minute he’s diving the hull, the next he’s driving his CAD system from remote locations in Peru. Need a smart person to think through something in the blink of an eye? Need someone to manage logistically complicated tasks and deliver premium quality work under pressure? Find Jon.

Diesel Dan Camella knows more about Detroit Diesel engines than anyone we’ve ever met. More importantly, he taught us how to sing while we work. A 92 year old diesel mechanic who gives singing lessons - awesome!

These dolphins surf our bow wave with reckless abandon. More often than not our mornings at sea are graced with their presence. Love ‘em.

Jon’s persistence and focus are the stuff of legend. Ask him about the time he took apart the drive shaft cuppling. He can also make a micro-controller, actuator, and sensor sing the star spangled banner in six part harmony. He calls it mechatronics, and he does it with his palls at Pocobor.

Elizabeth comes in for the big magnetic events, no matter where in the world they happen. She also works with senior leadership at Kaiser Permanente to help them be even more Kaiser. Multi-stakeholder strategic vision and execution - she’s there.

James took the old transmission to pieces in no time. When he’s not wrenching on Magnet, he’s launching Ploom. By the time you finish reading this, Ploom will be everywhere. Look for it in a hip hazy club near you.

Darryl asks the hard questions. He also makes the Gap better for you, me, and the planet.

Kipchoge grinds holes in Magnet’s hull. When he’s not Magnetic is all music, pedaling into the future with the Pleasant Revolution.

Craig made short work of pulling the flywheel, and made the work go easy getting the new seals in place. He also teaches Medical Device Design at Stanford, and starts companies in his sleep.

Dave is the only yard foreman we’ve ever seen who is so committed to keeping projects on schedule he’ll don a paint suit himself if he has to. For that matter, he’s also the only yard foreman we’ve met with a degree in bio-chemistry. Smart, knows boats, fearless when it comes to getting things done. No wonder we like this guy.

Christophe is as sensitive with a 4” grinder as he is with a 12” skillet. There’s a few reasons Magnet floats, and Chris is one of them. There’s a reason he was selected as one of San Francisco’s top chef’s. If you join us for a sail, you’ll be hoping Christophe is running the galley.

Magnet attracts good people. We call them the Magnetic Field.
